What Do I Need To Do To Apply For U.S. Citizenship?
When you've possessed a green card for a period of five years or more, commonly you are positioned to commence the initiation for United States citizenship, through the naturalization course. What Will Happen at My Interview?
You should have your green card and state ID or driver's license at hand during the interview to verify your identity. A USCIS officer will cross-check all your responses on your N-400 form during the interview. While going through your form, the officer will request you to validate whether the information is still accurate. If there have been any changes to the information, you'll need to acknowledge those changes and furnish evidence if required. The officer will then proceed to ask you a series of questions, similar to those at your green card interview. You will be asked to read and write a sentence in English. Afterward, you'll have to answer a 10-question test about U.S. civics and history. If you can answer six of these questions correctly, you'll pass the test. This might seem intimidating, but with adequate preparation, it should be quite manageable. Jay Mukerji, an immigration attorney based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is committed to helping you prepare for everything you'll encounter during the interview, so you can stay calm and enjoy the process.
