Sixteen Years Anniversary in Business
In the Beginning:
Before the creation of the Section of Business Law (the “Section”), the ABA handled business law through the Standing Committee on Commercial Law and Bankruptcy. Then, in 1938, the Section of Commercial Law was created, which was the precursor to the Section of Business Law.
In 1939-1940, the first year of operation for the Section, there was a chairman, vice chairman, secretary, eight council members, and four committees. Two of these committees were administrative (Cooperation with other Committees and Sections, and Membership), and two of these committees were substantive, dealing with bankruptcy subjects. Another Piano Man
The first song that I heard by Ben Folds Five was ‘Brick,’ which is so sad, but still very good. Becuase of that I thought the band was very serious and just sang slow songs. Boy was I wrong.
First hint that they’re not super serious is that the band was a three piece, contrary to what the name would make one believe. Also the first song on the album Whatever and Ever Amen that ‘Brick’ appeared on is called ‘One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces.’ That definitely hints that they not just some somber band.
Some people would think that just because Folds plays a piano instead of a guitar in the music that the band couldn’t rock out but he just goes crazy on the piano like other great players like Billy Joel and Elton John.
Unfortunately the band broke up years ago, but Ben Folds is still going strong as a solo artist. He made a lot of blog headlines a few months ago because he used the random video chat website Chatroulette to broadcast a concert. He set up a Web cam on stage where the person on the other end of the chat could see him and the audience. Then when someone came up he would sing a song about them. I’ve watched the video so many times on wildblue satellite internet.
I have to say that was probably the best ever use of that website.
